Raw ridge protection comparison
Use the exact displayed raw-ridge confidence as lead protection, before continuity filtering and bridging. No new thresholding, confidence snapping, texture cleanup, region drawing or localized patches are applied. The frozen raw PNGs retain their existing 8-bit precision. Pane weights, art, active overlays, lettering and glyph masks match the earlier proof.
After refreshing the harness catalog, compare under matching lighting, material, finish, strength and rotation:

Existing fixtures remain intact. Review sheets also compare against the staged continuity-filtered masks, which remain in the previous proof regardless of which fixtures are currently installed.
The formula is finish = paneWeight × (1 − rawConfidence) × (1 − activeProtection). White in the raw ridge map protects ink; white in the compiled finish map receives coating. Actual overlay/lettering alpha determines active protection. Pane weights remain 62–90%, using saturation blurred by 20 master pixels with smoothstep(0.08, 0.58). All maps share the 2000×2800 canvas and exports at 2000, 1000 and 500px widths use bilinear downsampling. Runtime texture count and shaders are unchanged.

Each review folder also includes control-raw-ridges-1000.png for the installed controls listed above. Each source folder freezes the exact raw map and prior continuity mask. inputs.json pins their hashes; the parent cards.json pins the other source components. recipe.json records the direct-use recipe and originating extraction recipe hash.
Rebuild staged outputs without reinstalling:

The originating raw ridge diagnostics can be regenerated by the parent build.py; this branch deliberately uses its frozen PNGs and does not rerun continuity/bridging. ../install-raw-ridges.py installs only this branch's six PNGs and refuses to overwrite existing destinations.
Validation checks source hashes, registration, identical pane weighting, direct raw-confidence use, active overlay/glyph suppression, fully white ridge protection, retained neutral pane coating, corners, opaque grayscale exports and exact runtime artwork/text-mask preservation. Installation record records existing-file preservation and catalog discovery.
Static previews show more complete line protection and also more etched flecks, especially on Burning Bush. Moving-light appearance and user approval remain pending. Inspect whether those flecks produce unwanted coating mottling. This experiment does not select a new production default.
Production approval
The user approved this comparison on September 13, 2026 and selected it as raw-ridges-v1 for future stained-glass assembly. The shared module regenerates the confidence from artwork and preserves these approved reference hashes. Historical validation reports above retain their original pending-review state. Existing cards/fixtures are not migrated, and new illustrations/other printings still receive their own review.
